This summer, I have had the pleasure of going to Flour Bakery twice. The first time was what I requested to do on my birthday. And that trip couldn’t have been more perfect. With my birthday on July 5th and … Continue reading
I have made a lot of banana breads over the past few years. A lot have come out really good. And quite a few have not come out so good. Those that have not come out so good sink in … Continue reading
Today isn’t about something I baked. But it does have something to do with a bakery I have been dying to try. First, how I got to the bakery. For Christmas, I got Matt a Groupon for a sailing adventure in Boston Harbor through Seacoast Sailing. It was a much-needed relaxing day for just the two of us. And it is relaxing because you don’t actually sail. The boat has a motor and there are sails on it, so it’s perfect. If anyone is looking for something different to do, I highly recommend this. Our sail was about 2 1/2 hours long and you can bring your own lunch and alcohol if you want. They serve you free snacks and drinks. I see them on Groupon often so look out for a good deal!
We also picked a good day to go out on the boat because we got to see the USS Constitution sail to commemorate its 200th anniversary of victory during the War of 1812. It was so awesome to see Old Ironsides set sail. It kind of reminded me of The Goonies.
So I forget how I first heard of Flour Bakery. I think I may have come across it online and realized it is right in Boston. So I got the cookbook and couldn’t wait to go to the bakery. Since we were right around the corner, kind of, Matt and I went after our sailing adventure.
Yes, I am a little crazy and discretely took pictures of the bakery. But that’s ok. I got two peanut butter cookies, a chocolate cupcake with chocolate buttercream, and a piece of cranberry maple cake. Not all for me! Just the cookie and cupcake for me.
(My poor cupcake fell over in the box and got squished.) So Matt said they were just ok, and I have to agree with him about the cookie. But the cupcake was amazing!!! The recipe for the peanut butter cookie and cupcake are in the Flour Cookbook so they are on my list to bake next. I am curious to see how they compare. When I know, I will let you know! And I will definitely go back.
